Sergeant Adam A. Wilkinson died 18 February 2007 in southeastern Afghanistan when his MH-47E Chinook Helicopter, #472, crashed while conducting operations in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

SGT Wilkinson was born on 17 December 1983 in Miskayuna, New York. He volunteered for service in the

U.S. Army in March 2002 as a Petroleum Supply Specialist. His first tour of duty was with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado. In 2005, SGT Wilkinson changed his military occupation specialty to a Chinook Helicopter Repairer. He arrived at the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) in May 2005 and completed the Regiment's Green Platoon course, an initial selection and training requirement prior to assignment. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, serving as a MH-47E Maintenance Team Member and MH-47 Crewmember, most recently in Bravo Company. SGT Wilkinson had previously deployed twice in support of the Global War on Terrorism, supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan with the 160th SOAR(Abn).

SGT Wilkinson was a graduate of the Warrior Leader Course, Special Operations Training Course (Green Platoon), Combatives Level 1 Course, and Unit Armorer Training.

SGT Wilkinson's awards and decorations include the Air Medal (w/"V" Device), Army Commendation Medal (w/1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, and Aircraft Crew Member Badge. SGT Wilkinson was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and Air Medal.

SGT Wilkinson is survived by his wife, Tyffanie; son, Carson; and parents, Paul and Felicia. At his wishes,

SGT Wilkinson’s ashes were spread in the woods of Rifle, Colorado.
