Private First Class Blaine N. Adams was born on 22 August 1989 in Farmington, Maine. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Army on 28 August 2006 and reported to Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, on 5 July 2007. He attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Eustis, Virginia, from 17 September 2007 until 21 February 2008 to train as Helicopter Repairer (15U).
Following AIT, PFC Adams was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He successfully completed Enlisted Green Platoon on 5 May 2008 and was assigned to Delta Company, 4th Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington, on 23 May 2008, beginning his career directly supporting special operations forces in the Global War on Terrorism.
PFC Adams’ awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Basic Aviation Badge, and Expert Marksmanship Badge.
PFC Adams died on 28 November 2008 after he suffered a shallow water black-out during company swim training at Fort Lewis, Washington. He is survived by his mother, Kenda; father, Randy; and sister, Millissa. He is laid to rest in Farmington, Maine, at Fairview Cemetery.
