Chief Warrant Officer Two Bobby M. Crumley was born on 16 April 1952 and was a Founding Night Stalker with Alpha Company, 159th Aviation Battalion.

On 17 July 1980, while conducting long-range training en route to Michael Army Airfield at Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah, his CH-47 helicopter, #290, crashed into the San Bernardino Mountains after striking trees. CW2 Crumley was killed in the ensuing crash sequence and was the first fatality of what is now the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne).

CW2 Crumley is survived by his son, Tim; and his parents, Jerry and Connie. He is laid to rest in Greenville, South Carolina, at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Building #352 at Blue Grass Army Depot, Kentucky, is dedicated in his honor as Crumley Hangar.
