Chief Warrant Officer Two Donald R. Alvey was born on 1 September 1956 in Morganfield, Kentucky, and spent his childhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served as one of the navigators for Operation HONEY BADGER and received a Chinook helicopter transition immediately following. He is remembered as a big, jovial type of guy who was fun to be around.

As a Founding Night Stalker, CW2 Alvey served with Alpha Company, 159th Aviation Battalion and was conducting over water training operations when his CH-47 Chinook, #527, crashed in the Atlantic Ocean, just east of Cape Henry, Virginia on 20 March 1983.

CW2 Alvey is survived by his wife, Kristy; two sons, James and Joseph; his mother, Ruth; and his sister, Cathy. He is laid to rest in Uniontown, Kentucky, at St. Agnes Cemetery.
