Sergeant Donavon L. Scott was born on 19 December 2000 in Puyallup, Washington. He was a dedicated weightlifter, video game enthusiast, and enjoyed snowboarding. He played football, participated in track, and wrestled at Cascade Christian High School in Puyallup, graduating with the class of 2019. After graduation, SGT Scott enlisted in the U.S. Army attending Advanced Individual Training at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, as a UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter Repairer (15T).

SGT Scott was assigned to Charlie Company, 4th Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, as a Fully Mission Qualified Crew Chief. SGT Scott died when his MH-60M Black Hawk helicopter tail #269, crashed during a training mission in Washington.

After completing Green Platoon and the Non-rated Crewmember Course, SGT Scott was first assigned to Delta Company, 4th Battalion, as an MH-60M Black Hawk Helicopter Maintainer. After completing the MH-60 Nonrated Crewmember Course, he served as an MH-60M Crew Chief in Charlie Company, 4th Battalion. SGT Scott accumulated over 776 flying hours and was instrumental in the success of multiple deployments including a crisis response contingency operation and numerous OCONUS and CONUS training missions.

SGT Scott's awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal (w/Bronze Service Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and was inducted into the Honorable Order of Saint Michael for significant contributions to the Army Aviation community.

SGT Scott is survived by his parents, Darel and Deanne, and his sister, Audria. He is laid to rest in Kent, Washington, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
