Duane Albro was the Chairman of the Board of Squan, a national engineering and construction firm that specializes in building telecom network infrastructure. Previously, he was the CEO of Squan, where he led the transformation from a wireless telecom constructor company to a full-service design/build telecom and utility power company.
Prior to Squan, Duane was the founder and CEO of Albro, Inc., a global consulting group, providing strategic consulting services to private equity firms and investment banks of all sizes, ranging from top ten investment banks to private equity and boutique investors.
Duane was an experienced technology CEO with specific expertise in turning around troubled companies. He was the CEO of Alteva, a New York Stock Exchange-traded company where he led the transformation from a regional telephone company into the ninth largest cloud communications company in the United States. Other CEO roles have included Refinish, a Texas based cellular phone refurbishing company; Cablevision, a metro New York cable TV operator; Net2000, a Northern Virginia based telecommunications service provider; and Verizon and its predecessor companies. He also served as Chairman of the Board and Director of Lakeland Industries, a NASDAQ-traded company that manufactures and sells industrial protective clothing globally.
Duane was active in supporting the positive impact of technology used in education, having served on a White House National Advisory Council on Technology in Education, provided testimony to the U.S. Congress on the benefits of technology used in education, and having served on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce-Technology and E-Commerce Committee. In the past, he also served on the boards of the New York Medical College, New York Institute of Technology, and National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. He demonstrated his commitment to workforce issues as the Founder and Chairman of the Long Island Works Coalition, a major non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the available workforce for technology industries.
Duane served in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant while combat deployed in the Republic of Vietnam. He was committed to the Night Stalker Foundation because of his admiration of Army aviators.
Duane held a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology. He had also completed Executive Management Programs at the University of Virginia - Darden School and the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School. Duane was a member of American Mensa Society.
