Sergeant Jeffrey D. Tarbox was a native of Washburn, Maine. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Army on 10 July 1991. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Advanced Individual Training as a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
SGT Tarbox's assignments included Assistant Motor Sergeant, Shop Foreman, and Squad Leader at Special Troops Command in Seoul, Korea. While assigned to 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, he served as a Bus Driver instructor, Tool Room Custodian, Building Maintenance Coordinator, and Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic.
SGT Tarbox’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Drivers Wheel Badge, Mechanics Badge and Expert Rifle Marksmanship Badge.
SGT Tarbox is survived by his wife, Jennifer and their son, Christopher, who was born on 23 May 1995, his dad’s birthday. He is laid to rest in Crouseville, Maine, at Hillside Grove Cemetery. The rigger building, #7226, on GEN Brown Compound at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, is dedicated in his honor as Tarbox Hall.
