Sergeant Jeremy D. Foshee was born on 14 August 1976 and is a native of Pisgah, Alabama. He died in an overwater helicopter crash on 22 February 2002 while on a training mission in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
SGT Foshee volunteered for service in the U.S. Army in 1995 and was assigned to Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 222nd Aviation Regiment at Fort Eustis, Virginia. After Graduation from Basic Combat Training, he attended Advanced Individual Training, where he was trained as a Medium Helicopter Repairman (67U). SGT Foshee was then assigned to Alpha Company, 8th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In 1998, he received orders and served with distinction in Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea.
In 2000, SGT Foshee was assigned to the Special Operations Aviation Training Company (SOATC), 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). Upon completion of the Basic Mission Qualification Course (Green Platoon) and MH-47E course, he was assigned to Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 160th SOAR(Abn). In 2001, SGT Foshee was assigned as a Crew Chief to Echo Company, 160th SOAR(Abn) in Taegu, Republic of Korea. He deployed with his unit to multiple locations across the Pacific Command in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
SGT Foshee was a graduate of the 160th SOAR(Abn) Green Platoon Course, Primary Leadership Development Course, and MH-47E Aircraft Basic Mission Qualification Course.
SGT Foshee's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (w/1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (w/3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Assault Badge, and Aircraft Crew Member Badge. SGT Foshee was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal.
SGT Foshee is survived by his parents, Bobby and Patsy. The extensive search and rescue mission failed to recover SGT Foshee’s remains; there is a memorial headstone in Pisgah, Alabama at the New Hope Cemetery.
