Chief Warrant Officer Three Pierre R. Desroches was born in California on 29 October 1951 and graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1969. He volunteered for service in the U.S. Army in 1984, becoming a UH-1 Huey Helicopter Pilot.

CW3 Desroches’ assignments included Fort Carson, Colorado; El Gora, Egypt; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He also served as an Aviation Maintenance Officer and Instructor Pilot. CW3 Desroches volunteered for service in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) in 1991, where he rose to serving as an Instructor Pilot in Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion. He participated in numerous deployments both in the continental United States and overseas.

CW3 Desroches’ awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (w/1 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal (w/1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (w/1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Multinational Force and Observers Medal, and Senior Army Aviator Badge. He was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

CW3 Desroches died on 7 March 1996 during a night training mission when his MH-47E Chinook helicopter, #465, crashed near Russellville, Kentucky.

CW3 Desroches is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons, Roger and Christopher; daughters, Carla and Dena; and his brother, John Meyer. He is laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Section 60, group burial site 7812. Building #7253 on GEN Brown Compound at Fort Campbell, Kentucky is dedicated in his honor as Desroches Hall.
